Waiting 02:17
Cold Dark Under your feet I wasn’t dead, I was patiently waiting Patiently waiting and I could feel everything I could hear everything I wasn’t dead Far Down Deep in the earth I wasn’t dead, I was quietly listening Quietly listening and I could hear everything I could hear everything I wasn’t dead Turned into stone Thrown in the ocean Crumbled to dust Cast to the wind Tempered with fire The transformative forge The guts of the earth will be metal again Down Down Thousands of years I wasn’t dead, I was only forgotten Only forgotten for nearly forever and I could feel everything I wasn’t dead Cold Still Practically motionless I wasn’t dead, I was resting my eye sockets Shut for the ages but one day they’ll open and open or closed I can always see everything Turned into stone Thrown in the ocean Crumbled to dust Cast to the wind Tempered with fire The transformative forge The guts of the earth will be metal again I wasn’t I wasn’t I wasn’t I wasn’t

Eating 00:59
I ate your heart I ate your hair I ate your nose I ate your hands I ate your feet I ate your fingers and your face I ate your guts I ate your bones And even though I was hungry it tasted foul And your skull I ate your brain I ate your eyes I ate your arms I ate your armpits I ate your fat I ate your blood I ate your muscles I ate your back And even though it was foul I was satiated Ribs I ate your hips I ate your liver and your lungs I ate your gums I ate your tongue I ate your ears I ate your elbows I ate your neck And even though I am a ravenous beast I was grateful And because I was grateful I said a prayer And your skin Your fingernails I ate your stomach and your chest I ate your eyelids I ate your mouth I ate your teeth I ate your knuckles I ate your legs And even though I said a prayer it didn’t make it right And even though it didn’t make it right I shuddered with delight I needed it so bad there was nothing else to do And even though you were already dead I killed you

The Eyes 03:51
Spikes Spikes of light Spikes of light tonight that pierce the sky The ice Icy bright Icy bright tonight nocturnal knives The think Thinking blink Thinking blinking bright The eyes the eyes The thinking and unblinking eyes That watch you over through the night Glow Glowing Glowing glimmering the silver moon It shows Shimmering She is shivering and smiling shining bright Shows its glow Shows its glow tonight so you will know What’s right tonight So bright the light The night the right The way to go Lightning will strike you The stars know where you are The lights you see at night The eyes are spies and shining for the dark Is it wrong to unearth the dead, mother? They say that, but there are some poor creatures that never should have been buried at all? How can you tell if a thing is alive or dead? I don’t think there is a way to tell, at least not in this world Ha Ha Ha Lightning will strike you The stars know where you are The lights you see at night The eyes are spies and shining for the dark Blindness Blindness Blindness Blindness

Worm 01:53
Worm little worm Worm little worm I have always admired the work that you do Changing what’s dead into something that’s living again So the world stays vibrant and new Worm little worm Worm little worm My hook through your body I pierced it through Threw in the water to feed to the fish that I fed to my family Swallow and chew Swallow and chew Swallow and chew Swallow and chew into something that’s new Worm little worm Worm little worm I have always considered that you were a friend Till today I’m afraid I behaved unforgivably Forcing our friendship to come to and end Worm was it right Worm was it wrong I wanted my children to grow big and strong Someday you’ll know Someday you’ll see When I’m dead and the worm folk will all come to get me

The Time 03:12
Let us take the time to contemplate the seasons The world is old The year is long May the seasons always come after each other in their order In the way it’s always happened all along Season of cold A time of hiding in the holes Season of sleep Season of death And then the season of awakening We rise up from the mud Open our eyes to see what little life is left Season of sun A time of growth Another world grows out of the broken wreckage of the old one Season of gold A time of laughter Time to harvest all of the laughter out of the children Out of their faces till they can’t laugh Until they can’t laugh Until they can’t laugh Let us take the time to contemplate the seasons The world is old The year is long May the seasons always come after each other in their order In the way it’s always happened all along Season of cold A time of waiting for the end Season of sleep Season of death It is the season of forgetfulness to wander in the dark so long That many of us never make it back again Season of light A time of squinting in the darkness Till our eyes adjust and face the blazing fire’s height Season of gold A time of laughter Time to harvest all of the voices out of the songs the children sing Until they can’t say anything Until they can’t laugh And on and on and on and on and on

The Claws 03:05
Don’t go into the woods by yourself at night There is something that stirs in the angry air The invisible claws will reach out for you They will tear at your clothes and pull your hair Look at the trees They are dancing the dance that will bring down the world Don’t go into the woods by yourself at night It’s the howling wind that awaits you there The invisible eyes that will cut right through To the parts on the inside, exposed and bare Something’s glistening Rising and falling The life in your body The sun in the sky Tumbles down, it’s igniting the fire And then off in the distance a new light is about to be born Gathering its power Closer every hour bounding towards the world of men to trample and devour Come to shake this town Houses upside down Bash and crash and thrash and smash it Back into the ground What makes your skin crawl Scares you most of all No one should have had to tell you not to answer when you hear it’s call The invisible claws will reach out for you The invisible claws will reach out for you The invisible claws will reach out for

The End 02:30
Walk onward onward onward With no mind mind mind The drudgery of mind is left behind, left behind Walk onward onward onward With no brain brain brain We knocked it on the ground and won’t look back, not again Look forward forward forward With no one true face A thousand little faces All will grow in its place The miracle we’ve dreamed of It’s begun, It’s begun Our thousand little faces all move forward as one

about

You stand before a stage illuminated with mysterious green light. A painted backdrop depicting gnarled and thorny trees dominates the center. Scavenged wooden fencing, hammered together with rusty nails into jagged arrangements, stands on either side. Rotting wood and filthy rags are scattered across the floor. You hear a distant horn, and turn to see a parade of shadowy figures and monstrous beasts marching out of the darkness toward the stage. No guitars, just words, lurching bass lines, and the thunder of drums. This is Evil Sword.

Their latest album, An Eerie Fire Eats the Brain, is the culmination of four years of experimentation by multimedia artist partners Kate Ferencz and Ben Furgal aided by a rotating cast of musicians, performers, and acolytes to their movement.
